Ladies; Should the size of the engagement ring matter in saying Yes or No?

This Article was written by the Adejoro Olumofin the Relationship Consultant aka "Doktor" Mofin
Ladies, should the size or price of the engagement ring matter? If your man isn't financially equipped or doesn't know the "rock" / ring of your dreams and yet proposes would you accept or decline? This article is inspired by an interesting story I heard from a close friend about a guy who proposed to his 2 year girlfriend with a ring which could be referred to as a "Full Stop" or a "Dot ring" i.e the rock was so small & displeasurable to her.
She accepted the ring but didn't wear it often or put the standard ring finger picture on social media. After a few weeks her boyfriend got angry and confronted her about not posting the ring out there or telling anyone, she lashed out and said this isn't the ring of "my" dreams.

They got into a fight which eventually led to their breakup. My question; Does the size of the ring or rock matter in saying yes to your man? This issue requires a situational approach or solution as we all have different personalities, family background, or orientations. Psychologically and in my opinion a ring should serve as a symbol of love or an interest in starting a new life with another person, the price of the ring should be based on ur pocket or account at the time, if a big or small ring comes it's the gesture / idea that someone wants to spend the rest of their life with you that matters.

Most guys want to give their lady a big rock but what if there are more pressing issues like rent, business projects, health issues ; will a man leave these things or empty his account for a Big Diamond Rock? As a couple you can always upgrade your ring in time as you grow financially.

Social media and competition amongst friends has made it a " sine qua non" I.e an essential for ladies to have a big rock, some ladies have been proposed to change the way they walk or place their fingers a certain way so the world can see, if that ring was very small/tiny/cheap would u walk and put your hand in a way that will blind our eyes? Do what works for you in your own clime. Don't pass on a good man because of a variable which can be made a constant in time.

Trial of Nigerian Treasury looters to commence soon - Buhari

President Buhari today said the trial of persons who have stolen national resources will begin in a matter of weeks. He said this at a meeting with members of the National Peace Committee led by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar in the Presidential Villa.
"Those who have stolen the national wealth will be in court in a matter of weeks and Nigerians will know those who have short-changed them." he said
He added that things in Nigeria have degenrated "We have really degenerated as a country. Our national institutions, including the military, which did wonderfully on foreign missions in the past, have been compromised. But we are doing something about it.

The military is now retraining and morale has been resuscitated. As Petroleum Minister under Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo in the 1970s, I could not travel abroad until I had taken a memo to the Federal Executive Council asking for estacode. Now, everybody does what he wants. That is why security-wise and economically, we're in trouble," he said

Naira Depreciates Further To 225/$ At Parallel Market

The Nigerian currency, the Naira, on Monday depreciated further, trading at N225 to the dollar at the parallel market.
Similarly, the currency was traded at N341 to a pound sterling while one Euro was traded for N243.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), however, learnt that the poor showing of
naira at the parallel market did not affect its official N197 price to a dollar at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Commenting on naira’s drop in value, Dr Evans Osabuohien, an economist, told NAN that the recovery of the American economy was responsible for the appreciation of the dollar against other currencies in the world.

Osabuohien, who teaches at the Department of Economics and Development, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun, noted that like Nigeria, the global economic challenges also affected currencies of most African countries.
He specifically identified Kenyan and Ugandan Shillings among the worst in currencies’ depreciation in the continent.

Banks reduce withdrawal limits on ATMs

In the new arrangement, all ATMs that were enabled for domestic and foreign transactions have been restructured to limit Naira cash withdrawal at ATMs from N150,000 per day to N60,000 per day while foreign currency is $300 per day.

The new arrangement has separated traditional ATM from MasterCard credit card where the former has now been deactivated and can no longer be used for transactions abroad.

Henceforth, a single ATM card serves for transactions for both domestic and abroad.

Also, the restructured cards now have spending limits on POS/eCommerce (online shopping) at $300 (about N60,000) per day. Before this, the limit was N2 million per day.

In a communication to the customers, the bank explained:
“In view of the increased difficulty in sourcing foreign currency to settle international transactions on Naira MasterCards, we have reduced the daily international spending limit on your Naira MasterCard to $300.This means that you can only spend up to $300 daily when using your Naira MasterCard for international payments via POS and online.
“You will, however, continue to have the option of paying for medical bills, school fees, mortgages and credit cards using Form A, as these are eligible transactions for foreign currency. Simply visit any GTBank branch to complete a Form A along with the required documents to make these payments.”

These developments came on the heels of Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) statement on Sunday that all legitimate requests for foreign currency for eligible transactions, normally referred to as “invisibles,” such as remittances for school fees, student maintenance allowances, BTA, PTA, medical and other eligible transactions, shall be fully met at the official/interbank exchange rate.
A statement from the CBN added:
“The CBN hereby directs all authorised dealers in foreign exchange in Nigeria to henceforth treat as top priority all legitimate demand for foreign exchange for eligible transactions.
“The CBN once again advises individuals that wish to source foreign currency for such eligible transactions to approach their banks with their legitimate demand as the CBN has made adequate provisions of foreign currency for all such legitimate and eligible purposes.
“Furthermore, holders of Naira denominated debit and credit cards shall continue to have access to the use of their cards at ATMs in any part of the world but subject to the annual limit of $50,000. ATM withdraws shall continue to be a maximum of $300 per day.”

True to its threat few weeks ago, the West African Examination Council has withheld the 2015 WAEC Senior School Certificate Examination results of students of public schools in 13 states following their state government's failure to pay the fees meant for their registration.

Announcing the release of the results in Lagos on August 8th, WAECs head of National Office, Mr. Charles Eguridu, said the number of the states owing WAEC had reduced to 13 as 6 states out of the 19 earlier announced have addressed their debt. He added that that a total of 1,605,248 registered for the May/June 2015 WAEC, while 1,593,442 sat for the exam. 864,096 candidates were males while 729,346 candidates were females.
